Tell Me How

How do you tell someone you hold close that they are still a child? And not child at heart but in the ways of thinking.

How do you tell him that he hasn't grown over the years at all? That he's still standing where he was years ago.

That even though he thinks he's above what everyone thinks of him, he still craves and seeks their attention desperately. And throws a tantrum if not granted with the same.

How do you tell him that proving to someone else that he's better than them is harmful more for him than anyone else?

How do you tell him that being a better person means more than having shiny shoes and fancy clothes when that is all he values?

How do you tell him that you haven't heard a positive thing about yourself from his mouth in a long time?

How do you tell him that his harsh judgments and thoughtless comments pinch your heart every single time?

How do you tell him to be a completely different person because even though you love him, you can't stand him sometimes?

How do you tell him that you're not trying to change him when you are?

How do you tell him that change is not always for the bad, even if it knocks you down on your feet?

But most importantly, how do you tell yourself whether you want to let go or not?
